Day by Day Plan

Day 1

Fly to Lalibela & Explore Rock-Hewn Churches

Fly from Addis Ababa to Lalibela and begin exploring the first and second groups of rock-hewn churches. Walk through tunnels and narrow passages while learning about their history and spiritual meaning. Visit major churches such as Bete Medhane Alem and nearby sites.

Overnight stay in Lalibela.

Day 2

Bete Giyorgis & Nakuto Leab Monastery

Visit the third group of churches, including the iconic Bete Giyorgis carved in a cross shape. Continue to Nakuto Leab Monastery, located in a scenic and quiet setting outside Lalibela. Learn about its history and religious importance while enjoying the surrounding views.

Return to Lalibela for overnight stay.

Day 3

Fly to Mekelle & Transfer to Danakil / Erta Ale

Fly to Mekelle and begin your journey toward the Danakil Depression. Drive through changing landscapes into one of the hottest regions on Earth. Continue to Erta Ale and prepare for the evening hike to the volcano. Reach the crater area and observe the active lava lake.

Day 4

Dallol, Salt Lakes & Natural Pools

Visit the colorful hydrothermal area of Dallol with its unique mineral formations. Explore the salt flats and observe traditional salt mining activities. See the natural salt pools, sometimes called “swimming pools,” formed by mineral deposits. Overnight stay in the Danakil area.

Day 5

Return to Semera & Fly to Addis Ababa

Drive back across the desert toward Semera. Stop at Hamedela to observe local Afar life and desert settlements. Continue to Semera and transfer to the airport. Fly back to Addis Ababa and overnight stay.

Day 6

Fly to Jinka & Visit Mursi and Hamer Tribes

Fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka and begin your Omo Valley experience. Visit the Mursi people, known for their unique traditions and lip plates. Continue to a Hamar village to learn about their culture and daily life. Overnight stay in the area.

Day 7

Excursion to Dassanech Tribe

Drive from Turmi toward the Omo River region. Visit the Dassanech people and explore their village and lifestyle. Learn how they adapt to a hot and dry environment. Return to Turmi for overnight stay.

Day 8

Karo Tribe & Konso Village

Visit the Karo people, known for their body painting and riverside location. Continue driving toward Konso through varied landscapes. Explore a Konso village and learn about their terraced farming system. Overnight stay in Konso.

Day 9

Arba Minch, Dorze Village & Return to Addis Ababa

Drive to Arba Minch and visit a Dorze village to see traditional houses and weaving. Take a boat trip on Lake Chamo to spot wildlife. Transfer to the airport after your visits. Fly back to Addis Ababa and end your journey.
