Day by Day Plan

Day 1

Fly to Lalibela & Explore Rock-Hewn Churches

Fly from Addis Ababa to Lalibela and begin exploring the first and second groups of the famous rock-hewn churches. Walk through narrow passages and tunnels while learning about their history and religious meaning. Visit important sites such as Bete Medhane Alem and nearby churches.

Overnight stay in Lalibela.

Day 2

Bete Giyorgis & Return to Addis Ababa

Visit the third group of churches, including the iconic Bete Giyorgis, carved in a cross shape. Take time to experience the peaceful and spiritual atmosphere of Lalibela. Transfer to the airport and fly back to Addis Ababa. Overnight stay in Addis Ababa.

Day 3

Fly to Semera & Enter the Danakil Depression

Fly from Addis Ababa to Semera and begin the journey into the Danakil Depression. Drive across desert landscapes to reach the salt flats and salt lakes. Observe traditional salt mining activities and the unique environment of the region.

Overnight camping in the Danakil area.

Day 4

Erta Ale Volcano & Dallol Exploration

Travel deeper into the Danakil region and visit the colorful hydrothermal area of Dallol. Continue to Erta Ale volcano, one of the few places on Earth with an active lava lake. Hike to the crater and witness the glowing lava, especially impressive at night. Overnight near the volcano.

Day 5

Return to Semera & Fly to Addis Ababa

Drive back across the desert to Semera. Enjoy views of the unique landscapes along the way. Transfer to the airport for your return flight. Fly back to Addis Ababa and end your journey.
